Salmon Eggs

A few days ago,Tracey came to visit our school. She brought 100 baby salmon with her. I have a little story for you about the salmon life cycle: Salmon Creek
Once upon a time there was a little salmon named Sumi. He was still in his egg(which was in his redd). After a few days, Sumi carefully wriggled out of his egg(his yolk sack was hard to get out). Sumi was the first one out of his egg. Soon another salmon broke out and another. Sumi stayed by a big clump of gravel until his yolk sack was empty, then Sumi joined a small group of alevin to head to the sea. The fish grew on their journey. They hung out there for a little while then they turned back home. Then they laid their eggs and died.

The end

Hope you liked it.

  1. Dear Brooklynn,
I really enjoyed your salmon post. I love learning new cool facts and that day I learned what a redd was. Did you learn any new cool facts from Tracy?

Salmon Creek sounds like a fantastic story. I think I will have to read it to the class this week. When I read your description of the story it made me think of Sumi, one of the mascots from the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Games.

    I love reading your posts!
